Reader's Advisory Blog

Springfield City Library: A Place for Readers

Check out our reader's advisory blog for news and reviews of upcoming and recently published titles, information about books for our book groups along with comments and summaries from those groups, details about other book-related programming such as author events, and tidbits from both the fiction selector and the publishing world.

Book Groups

Book groups are a great way to learn about new books and authors that you might enjoy. The Library hosts a number of monthly groups that discuss a pre-selected book, or share recent good reads. The world awaits you at groups meeting at the Central Library, East Forest Park, East Springfield, Forest Park, Pine Point, and Sixteen Acres Branches. Visit the Book Discussion Group page to find the best group for you!

Author Events

Author events are another way to expand your reading horizons. The library hosts author events at branches throughout the system.  Most events include author readings and lecture, as well as signings. Events may be either stand-alone visits or part of a thematic series. In March of 2008, the Friends of the Springfield Library are sponsoring a series of events with Massachusetts Book Award winning and honored authors.
