WHAT IS THE LIBRARY IN YOUR MAILBOX (LIYM) PROGRAM?
Participants in this program regularly receive library materials mailed to their homes at no charge.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any Springfield resident who is homebound or disabled.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Call or email the Library (see below) and state that you would like to register for Library in Your Mailbox (LIYM). The Library will then send you two forms (Registration Form & Interest Profile) which you need to fill-out and return to the Library. Remember to stamp the envelope. (That is your only cost!)
- call 413-263-6828 ext. 426
- e-mail epeterson@springfieldlibrary.org
There are times when there may be a waiting list for Library in Your Mailbox. If this is the case the coordinator will contact you with your number on the waiting list. Additionally, you will be contacted as soon as an opening occurs.
CAN I REQUEST OTHER MATERIALS BESIDES BOOKS?
You may request items in any format including videos, DVD's, large print, CDs, and books on tape. Regular item limits (i.e., no more than 3 videos at a time) will apply. You will receive more information in the Guidelines for Use after you register.
HOW MANY ITEMS CAN I RECEIVE AT ONE TIME?
You may request up to 6 items at a time.
FOR HOW LONG CAN I KEEP THEM?
The total loan period is 3 weeks from the date the materials were mailed to you from the Library. When the items are returned, you will be sent a new selection.
HOW DO I RECEIVE TITLES THAT INTEREST ME?
Be sure to fill out the Interest Profile which describes your reading tastes. Based on this information, your LIYM Liaison will regularly select materials for you. You will receive a new Interest Profile in every mailing so you will be able to change your choices, request specific titles, or otherwise give feedback about your selections.
