Holiday Closing

All Springfield City Library locations will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Taekwondo Demonstrations

Kids aged 6 to 12 are invited to a Taekwondo demonstration and mini-lesson at the Springfield City Library. Instructors from Master Han's Olympic Taekwondo studio in East Longmeadow will demonstrate self-defense basics. Click here for the schedule.

Art Classes at Indian Orchard

Children and teens can develop their artistic sides through a series of free workshops at the Indian Orchard Branch of the Springfield City Library this summer. Click here for details and registration information.

Videogaming for Teens

Teens 12 to 18 are invited to be among the first to play the new Wii, Playstation, and Dance Dance Revolution games at the Central Library's Community Room on Thursday, July 17, from 4 to 6 pm. Click here for sign-up information.

Adult Summer Reading Club

This year, adults have a summer reading club, too! Share your ratings and reviews for a book you've read or listened to, and get a chance to win great monthly prizes in July and August. Click here for all the details!

Library Commissioners Meeting

Board Games for Teens!

Teens are invited to the Springfield City Library for some strategy game-playing sessions. The games, Scrabble, Othello, Mancala, and Chess, offer challenging, creative outlets for the hot summer days and are offered as part of the Library's Expect the Unexpected Summer Reading Club for Teens. Foundation Directory Database Class

An introduction to the Foundation Directory Online database will be given on Friday, August 8, from 10 - 11:30 am and on Wednesday, August 13, from 6 - 7:30 pm in the Central Library Computer Lab. Click here for details and registration info.

The Friends of the Library are planning for a book sale at the Central Library on October 4. If you are interested in donating books or other items, or in volunteering to help, click here for details.
