Chibiconn Cosplay Contest Rules
Cosplay Contest Registration Form (print out & fill in)
- The contest will run on Sunday September 28, 2008 from 3 - 4 pm. All participants must be present at this time.
- The cosplay contest will last no more than 1 hour. The Chibiconn organizers reserve the right to close the contest to new entries at any time due to time constraints.
- Each contestant will have no more than 3 minutes to display, and talk about their costume with the judges.
- Skits may be allowed at Chibiconn at organizers discretion. Skits may be rejected due to space, noise levels, or any other reason.
- Costumes must be suitable for a PG audience. No overly disturbing or revealing cosplays will be accepted. Chibiconn organizers have the last say on any cosplay. Any costumes judged offensive by the organizers are automatically disqualified from the contest and will be asked to change into street clothes or asked to leave. Refusal to do so will result in a banning from the event.
- Absolutely no weapons, or items judged to be able to be used as weapons, will be permitted into Chibiconn. This includes wooden swords and staves. This also includes squirt guns, and any projectile devices. Chibiconn organizers have the last say on what qualifies as a weapon. Any attendee judged to have a weapon must leave the event, and will not be allowed in until said weapon is left outside the building. Refusal to do so automatically disqualifies the contestant and will result in a banning from the event.
- Any cosplay props must be two feet long by two feet long or less in size.
- The organizers retain the right to ban on site any cosplay prop deemed by organizers to be a hazard or nuisance, regardless of its nature or compliance with above rules. In this event, the prop will be treated as a weapon, and the contestant will be required to leave the event and not return until the object is left in a location outside the building. Refusal to do so automatically disqualifies the contestant and will result in a banning from the event.
- There will be a category for attendee's created original characters. Please be prepared to give background on said character (i.e. Is it from a fan fiction, an original work, etc).
- For cosplays based on anime characters, the contestant is advised (but not required) to include an image of the character they are dressed as, so that judges unfamiliar with their characters Anime can compare the costume to the character. This image may be included with the registration form, or brought by the contestant on the day of the competition.
