From the North
Interstate 91 South to Exit 7. Turn left at the 2nd traffic light onto State Street; proceed for three blocks. Turn right into parking lot (between Springfield School Department and Classical Condominiums).

From the South
Take Interstate 91 North to Exit 5 (Broad St). Stay on Columbus Avenue to State Street. Turn right, proceed for three blocks. Turn right into parking lot (between Springfield School Department and Classical Condominiums).

From the East
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 6 (I-291). Exit at Dwight Street (Exit 2B), turn left. Follow Dwight to State Street (9th light). Turn left onto State Street; proceed through next traffic light; turn right into parking lot.

From the West
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 4, Interstate 91 South and follow I-91 South to Exit 7. Turn left at the 2nd traffic light onto State Street; proceed for three blocks.

Parking: Free off-street parking is available in the State Street parking lot across the street from the library and next to the Springfield School Department building.

From points north:
Take I-91 South. Take Springfield Exit 11 (Birnie Avenue). Go straight at the end of the ramp following signs for Rte. 20 West. Follow the road as it curves to the right and take a right at the stop sign, following Rte. 20 West. Go over the bridge and then take an immediate right onto Plainfield St. The Brightwood Branch library is approx. 1/4 mile on the right in the same building as the Chestnut Middle School. The library entrance faces Plainfield St.

From points south:
Take I-91 North. Take Exit 9 to "Exit 9B & 20 West" to West Springfield. This exit will bring you up onto Rte. 20. At the next light, take a right onto Plainfield St. The Brightwood Branch library is approx. 1/4 mile on the right in the same building as the Chestnut Middle School. The library entrance faces Plainfield St.

From Worcester and points east:
Take I-90 West (Mass. Pike). Take Exit 6 (Springfield) and a left onto I-291. Take Exit 1B on I-291 to I-91 North and 20 West. Follow the signs for 20 West to West Springfield and take Exit 9B. At the first light, take a right onto Plainfield St. The Brightwood Branch library is approx. 1/4 mile on the right in the same building as the Chestnut Middle School. The library entrance faces Plainfield St.

From points west:
Take I-90 (Mass. Pike) to Exit 4 (West Springfield/Holyoke) onto I-91. Proceed south on I-91 and take the Springfield Exit 11 (Birnie Avenue). Take I-91 North to Exit 2. At second light, take a right onto Sumner Ave., proceed for 1 1/2 miles (through the 'X'), and take left onto White St. at light. Take first right onto Kimberly Ave. At light, turn right onto Allen St. At next light, turn left onto Island Pond Rd. The library is 1/4 mile on the left in shopping center.

From points north:
Take I-91 South to Exit 4. At light, at end of ramp, take a left under bridge. At next light, take a right up Longhill St. At light, at top of hill, go left onto Sumner Ave. and proceed for 1 1/2 miles. Take a left onto White St. Take first right onto Kimberly Ave. At light, turn right onto Allen St. At next light, turn left onto Island Pond Rd. The library is 1/4 mile on the left in shopping center.

From points west:
Take Rte. 20 East to Rte. 5 South. After the South End Bridge, bear right. Follow Rte. 83 South. At second light, go right onto Sumner Ave. for 1 1/2 miles. Go left onto White St. Take first right onto Kimberly Ave. At light, turn right onto Allen St. At next light, turn left onto Island Pond Rd. The library is 1/4 mile on the left in shopping center.

From points east:
Take Wilbraham Road west. Bear left, before the light, at Roosevelt Ave. Bear right, after the bridge, onto Island Pond Rd. The library is 1 mile on the right in shopping center.

From I-91 North, exit onto I-291 East. Take Exit 4 (St. James Ave.). At the light at end of ramp, turn right onto Page Blvd. At the next light, turn right again, following the turn onto Page Blvd. Continue on to the next set of lights, at the corner of Osborne Terrace. Turn left onto Osborne Terrace and the library will be the first building on your right.

From points north:
From I-91 South, exit onto I-291 East. Take Exit 4 (St. James Ave.). At the light at end of ramp, turn right onto Page Blvd. At the next light, turn right again, following the turn onto Page Blvd. Continue on to the next set of lights, at the corner of Osborne Terrace. Turn left onto Osborne Terrace and the library will be the first building on your right.

From points west:
Take I-90 East (Mass Turnpike). Take Exit 6 (Springfield). At the light, go left onto I-291. Take Exit 5 (E. Springfield). Go right at end of ramp onto Page Boulevard. At light, go straight for 1/2 mile. Turn right onto Osborne Terrace. The library is the stucco building on the right.

From points east:
Take I-90 West (Mass Turnpike). Take Exit 6 (Springfield). At the light, go left onto I-291. Take Exit 5 (E. Springfield). Go right at end of ramp onto Page Blvd. At light, go straight for 1/2 mile. Turn right onto Osborne Terrace. The library is the stucco building on the right.

Take I-91 South to Exit 4. At end of ramp, take a left, following the sign "To Mill St." Take the first right onto Mill St. At the second light, take right onto Belmont Ave. Go up the hill. The library is on the right just after the first light, at the corner of Oakland and across from the Post Office (on Belmont).

From points south:
Take I-91 North to Exit 2, which becomes Longhill St. Turn right at second light onto Sumner Ave. After passing the Forest Park entrance on the right, take a left at the next light onto Oakland St. The library is on the right at the next light, across from Forest Park Middle School.

From points west:
Take I-90 East to I-91 South. I-91 South to Exit 4. At end of ramp, take a left, following the sign "To Mill St." Take the first right onto Mill St. At the second light, take right onto Belmont Ave. Go up the hill. The library is on the right just after the first light, at the corner of Oakland and across from the Post Office (on Belmont).

From points east:
Take I-90 West to I-91 South. I-91 South to Exit 4. At end of ramp, take a left, following the sign "To Mill St." Take the first right onto Mill St. At the second light, take right onto Belmont Ave. Go up the hill. The library is on the right just after the first light, at the corner of Oakland and across from the Post Office (on Belmont).

From points south:
Follow I-91 North to I-291 East. Take the Indian Orchard exit off I-291. Bear right at end if ramp onto Page Blvd. to the intersection of Page Blvd. and Berkshire Ave. Take a left at the lights onto Berkshire Avenue. Follow Berkshire to Oak St. Take a left onto Oak St. The library is on the left on the corner of Oak and Worcester Streets. On street parking only.

From points north:
Follow I-91 South to I-291 East. Take the Indian Orchard exit off I-291. Bear right at end of ramp onto Page Blvd. to the intersection of Page Blvd. and Berkshire Ave. Take a left at the lights onto Berkshire Ave. Follow Berkshire to Oak St. Take a left onto Oak St. The library is on the corner of Oak and Worcester Streets. On street parking only.

From points west:
Follow the directions to the Central Library from the west. Pass the Central Library on your left and continue up State Street for a little over two miles, passing Mass Mutual on your right. At the traffic light at St. Michael's Cemetery, bear left onto Berkshire Avenue (which becomes Berkshire Street at the very end). Follow this road for about three miles until you come to the end (you will pass by Bay Street, Route 20 and Kennedy Middle School). Go left onto Oak Street. The library is on the corner of Oak and Worcester Streets. On street parking only.

From points east:
Follow the directions to the Central Library from the east. Pass the Central Library on your left and continue up State Street for a little over two miles, passing Mass Mutual on your right. At the traffic light at St. Michael's Cemetery, bear left onto Berkshire Avenue (which becomes Berkshire Street at the very end). Follow this road for about three miles until you come to the end (you will pass by Bay Street, Route 20 and Kennedy Middle School). Go left onto Oak Street. The library is on the corner of Oak and Worcester Streets. On street parking only.

Please Note: Indian Orchard is a part of Springfield, but it is a distinct neighborhood. Many street names are repeated in both downtown Springfield and Indian Orchard.

From the east:
Take I-90 (Mass Turnpike) to Exit 6 (I-291). Take I-291 to Exit 2B (Dwight St.). At the end of the ramp, turn left. Follow Dwight to State St. (9th light). Turn left and proceed 1.1 miles to Mason Square. Enter library parking lot on your right.
From the west:
Take I-90 ( Mass Turnpike) to I-91 South. Follow I-91 South to Exit 7 (Columbus Ave.) and go straight. At the second traffic light, turn left onto State St.; proceed for 1.4 miles to Mason Square. Enter library parking lot on your right.

From points north:
Take I-91 South to Exit 7 (Columbus Ave.) and go straight. At the second traffic light, turn left onto State Street. Take I-90 (Mass. Pike) West. Take Exit 7 (Ludlow) and take a left onto Center Street which is also Rte. 21. Follow the signs for Rte. 21S. The road will take a right to cross over a bridge and then another right after the bridge. At the next traffic light, take a left (all these turns are marked as Rte. 21S). At this point, Rte. 21S is also called Parker St. Stay on Parker/Rt. 21 for almost a mile to the intersection of Rte. 21 and Rte. 20 (Boston Rd.). Take a right onto Rte. 20/Boston Road. Continue on Boston Road (Rte. 20 will turn off to the right but stay on Boston Rd). Go through 6 traffic lights. The sixth light will intersect with Bay. The library will be on your right side, after Leitch St.
From points west:
Take I-90 (Mass. Turnpike) to Exit 4 (West Springfield/Holyoke) onto I-91 South. Follow I-91 South to Exit 7 (Columbus Ave.) and go straight. Take I-90 (Mass Pike) West. Take Exit 7 (Ludlow) and take a left onto Center Street which is also Rte. 21. Follow the signs for Rte. 21S. The road will take a right to cross over a bridge and then another right after the bridge. At the next traffic light, take a left (all these turns are marked as Rte. 21S). At this point, Rte. 21S is also called Parker Street. Stay on Parker St./Rte. 21 for approx. 2.8 miles (proceeding through Boston Rd. intersection). The library will be on your left, just before the traffic island at the Wilbraham Rd. intersection.
