If requesting an obituary from the Springfield newspapers, include complete name of the deceased, town of residence, and date of death. If you do not have the date of death, check with the local city or town clerk's office. An online directory of Massachusetts city and town clerk offices is available.

NOTE: Obituaries or articles from Springfield newspapers prior to 1900 must be requested from the Genealogy and Local History Library.

We regret that we cannot research genealogy and/or local history questions other than obituary requests from Springfield newspapers after 1900. The Genealogy and Local History Library at the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum should be contacted for these queries.
