Scavenger Hunts at the Central Library!

It's a scavenger hunt! Come to the Children's Room and pick up your clue sheet. Read the clues and find the answers hidden around the Children's Room. Return your sheet to the reference desk and claim your prize! Drop in anytime during our open hours to participate. For children ages 5-12.
FAMILIES READ! at the Central Library
Saturdays: September 11, October 30, November 27, December 18
1:30 - 3:30 pm
Drop in to the Children’s Room anytime between 1:30-2:45 p.m. to share books together, play a board game, and have a small snack. Grab some books then sign in at the desk. Read together for 20 minutes, record your time, then head into the Program Room to play a board game and enjoy a snack. The program ends at 3:30 p.m.; please plan your time accordingly. For adults & children 12 and under.

Saturday Storytimes:
Saturdays, 1:30 p.m., September 18, October 16, November 13, December 11.
Join us for stories, songs, and a craft! For ages 3-8, with no registration unless you'd like a reminder call, and siblings welcome. Saturday Storytimes will continue once a month in 2011. Do check back for the dates!
Preschool Storytimes:
Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m., September 21-November 16, in the Central Library Community Room.
Thursdays, 10:30 a.m., September 23-November 18, in the Central Library Children's Program Room.
Join us for stories, songs, and a craft. Perfect for ages 3-5 years, with siblings welcome. Pre-registration required if you'll be bringing more than 4 children .

Please note: the October 28 Storytime will be our annual Halloween Costume Parade. Come to storytime dressed in your Halloween Costume, hear some Halloween stories, and join us in a trick-or-treat parade around the Library. (The children will pick up some treats, but no candy will be handed out.)

Drop-in Crafts
Children and families are invited to complete a craft project when they visit the library. All activities are free, and no registration is necessary. The schedule for drop-in crafts activities is:
Brightwood Branch: Thursdays, 3:30-5 pm.
East Springfield Branch: Fridays, 2-4 pm.
Indian Orchard Branch: Wednesdays, 3:30 - 5 pm.
Liberty Branch: Tuesdays, 3-4:30 pm.
Mason Square Branch: Thursdays, 3:30 - 5 pm (begins September 2)
Pine Point Branch: Fridays, 10 am - 5 pm
Sixteen Acres Branch: Saturdays, 11 am-3 pm.
PLUS a special origami drop-in activity from 12-2 on the third Saturday of the month.
School and childcare groups:
All library locations welcome group visits; please call your neighborhood branch to book a visit for stories or library activities. Contact the branch hosting the storytime you’d like to sign up for and they will get you registered.
