Storytime registration is underway now!
Storytimes begin the week of March 29 unless otherwise noted.

All library locations welcome group visits; please call your neighborhood branch to book a visit for stories or library activities. Contact the branch hosting the storytime you’d like to sign up for and they will get you registered.

Wee Ones: Storytime for Babies

toddlerIt’s never too soon to start reading to your child! Bring your little one to our special storytimes just for children age 12 - 24 months, and instill in them the joy of reading and the magic of books! Register now.

Preschoolers Storytime (for ages 3-5)

Groups and individuals are welcome, siblings too! Pre-registration is required, please call 263-6828, x201 to see if there’s room for you to join us, even if you haven’t attended from the beginning! Most appropriate for ages 3-5, siblings welcome.

PJ Storytime (for ages 3-8)

Join us for old favorites, welcome some new ones, and enjoy special themes! No registration necessary - just drop in! Starts on March 17th.

kidsOnce again, the wonderful book discussion group for families, Family Adventures in Reading (FAIR) will be offered at two Springfield City Library locations. New dates are: March 6-April 10 from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Central Library Community Room, 220 State Street; and from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Sixteen Acres Branch Library, 1187 Parker Street. Professional storytellers will lead families and children 6 and older in discussions about children’s stories on topics such as fairness, courage, and dreams. Onawumi Jean Moss will be at the Central Library, and Motoko will be at the Sixteen Acres Branch. Snacks will be provided, and families who attend regularly will receive a canvas book bag and free book. Register now for this free program by calling or visiting the Central Library’s Children’s Room at 263-6828, ext. 201, or the Sixteen Acres Branch Library, 263-6858.

Drop-in Crafts

Children and families are invited to complete a craft project when they visit the library. All activities are free, and no registration is necessary. The schedule for drop-in crafts activities is:

Brightwood Branch: Thursdays, 3:30-5 pm.

East Springfield Branch: Fridays, 2-4 pm.

Indian Orchard Branch: Wednesdays, 3:30 - 5 pm.

Liberty Branch: Tuesdays, 3-4:30 pm.

Mason Square Branch: Wednesdays, 3:30 - 4:30 pm.

Pine Point Branch: Fridays, 10 am - 5 pm

Sixteen Acres Branch: Saturdays, 11 am-3 pm.
PLUS a special origami drop-in activity from 12-2 on the third Saturday of the month
.
